Today was perhaps one of the best days of our lives.
We began with a hike in the hills around the holy capital, Jerusalem. The
rest of the day was spent celebrating Israel's Independence Day, Yom Ha'Atzmaut.
The festivities began with a national program for the Canandian contingent-
we ate...and ate... and ate, and then we danced the afternoon. The evening
program reunited the 40 contingents of the world for the March of the Living
closing ceremonies. It was truly an evening to remember. We sang and danced
like never before. The spirit or "ruach" that engulfed us was
overwelming. 6000 Jewish youth together in one place to celebrate our Jewish
heritage, to understand the history of our people in the context of the
present and with voices strong, to proclaim "Am Yisrael Chai"-
the affirmation of the survival and long life of the Jewish People. Today
was indeed a glorious day: our best one yet.
